Photographers: Invest in yourself
It was such a hard decision for me to invest in a mentoring session but boy am I glad I did. It’s a big investment and not one to be chosen lightly. It is so important to continue honing in your craft, evolving and challenging yourself.
When choosing a mentor:
Choose a mentor that specializes in the niche you want to focus on.
What does the mentor offer during their mentorship? Do they offer custom presets? Do they nail down your workflow? Show you exactly how to edit? Do they help you with client communication? Can they help you with efficiency? Can they support you enough to make an impact on your confidence? Are they accessible after the mentoring session? Do they have a document or video you get to keep to refer to after?
It is so important to invest in yourself as a photographer and continue building your skills. If you don’t invest in yourself, how can you expect your clients to invest in you?
I just did the most amazing mentorship with the talented and genuine Jodi Lynn Buckles and it was beyond what I could have even asked for. I feel so supported and inspired! I feel that I have a more precise idea of how my business will run going forward. I have goals and am so excited for the future. I plan on doing continued education by rewatching modules I signed up for previously, for doing a retreat with other creatives, scheduling styled sessions to build my portfolio, attending shootouts and so much more!
The future is looking bright and my soul feels so inspired. I can’t even put into words how connected my soul is to photography and how alive it’s made me feel. It’s like my true self was dormant, I felt as if I didn’t belong anywhere, I fit in in most areas but only certain places and people give me the feeling of true belonging. Photography gives me that feeling belonging.
Now nothing can stop me from continuing this journey. It’s more than a job for me. It’s what I’m meant to do and there’s no feeling like knowing you are on the right path.
I want to give my clients the very best and in order to be the best you have to continually re-evaluate your entire business and how you can improve. Because you can always improve.
